This was part of a citywide art initiative by Impermanence that used development sites as canvases. Very, very cool. For this project, 3 houses were painted on the corner of a residential block. Everything was painted a bright fluorescent pink. From the bushes, the floors, to the walls and the doors. I was lucky enough to see it in person and take some pictures before these houses were demolished for space to build new apartment buildings.

Pink has definitely been trending for the last year and a half. The color choice definitely makes a statement. It's like a real-life Barbie Dream House!

GOODBYE SUMMER

I have not posted in a while. Obviously, I have cut my hair a few months ago. But here are some pictures of me in the early summer when I still had incredibly long hair.

I stepped away from blogging for a while. Life got in the way? Although blogging was not really a priority for me but rather something I was interested in trying out.

But let me update you. Since early summer, I have:

Cut my hair (obviously)
Got a dog. Her name is Nala. You will all meet her soon.
Tried to get back into fitness.

That about sums it up.

Los Angeles State Historic Park, what a beautiful place to be. When I used to live in Los Angeles or just about moved away, there used to be a cornfield here that was put up as an art installation. It's almost been a decade and since the cornfield. And since, there has been some events, a rave, and now it's a historic park. The lighting here is lovely and I think this park is a great one to bring a group of friends and family to for a picnic. An incredibly easy walk to or from Chinatown.

According to Google, the end of summer was the 22nd of September. I would just like to formally say goodbye to summer. Fall is here and I'm ready to embrace the cooler weather! See you all in knit sweaters and knee-high boots.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Happy 4th of July, everybody! I remember years ago, there was this trend where the American flag print was on a bunch of stuff like shirts and shorts. Now, I don't own anything with an American flag print so a red shirt and some light blue denim will have to do. Generally, this is actually how casual I dress.

California has been slowly getting hotter and hotter. Unfortunately, I turn really red when warmer weather comes around. Basically, I will look like a tomato for the rest of the summer. But this also means tons of ice cream, laying out at the beach, and lots of cold drinks!

PLAYING IN PLAID

One of my go-to outfits is a pair of leggings, a loose top, a flannel around the waist, and a pair of black booties. As I have said before, I dress for comfort most days. On days where I am not meeting anyone in a professional business setting or doing anything work-related, I will usually opt for something that I probably would be willing to sleep in. This outfit is one example of such attire. The best part is, when it gets colder at night, the flannel is both stylish and functional.

The thing with wearing leggings, though, is that I do not actually like wearing leggings with short tops. Depending on where I buy leggings from, sometimes it is possible that the treacherous underwear line is yearning to pay the public a visit. In order to prevent this from happening, I make it a point to wrap a flannel shirt or a jacket over my waist on the off chance that I decide to wear leggings with a shorter top that does not cover my behind.

My first month as a Freshman in college (five years ago), I created a blog. My first blog post on my old blog was around the time when chelsea boots made an entrance in the fashion scene. Topshop came out with Chelsea boots and Acne Studios released their ever so classic Pistol boots. And me? Well, I fell in love. I couldn't afford to spend $500 on a pair of Acne boots at the time, but I searched high and low on the dot com to find similar pairs. I ended up buying a pair of ASOS boots and wore them until the heel was uneven. Then I ventured on to invest a sturdier pair from Opening Ceremony.

My roommate - bless her soul as I will always love her for this - always encouraged me to make YouTube videos or start a blog because I "have the closet for it". So I took multiple pictures of them strutting around my dorm room while my roommate sat on her bed spitting encouragement at me. But, guess what? These are those very same boots. Point being, investment pieces are called investments for a reason. They stick around.

SLIP INTO SILK

When I picked this outfit, my photographer brought me to the Walt Disney Concert Hall to pair the walls with this monochrome look. Prior to this shoot, I had never been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. It made me realize that I really do not go out to explore new places, visit museums, try new restaurants, and things of that sort as much as I used to or as much as I would like to. I believe that the pursuit of maintaining this blog will help me slip out of my comfort zone. It also makes for a great way to document my changes in style, writing, and the ongoings of my life. Is it lame to talk about my blog on my blog? *shrugs*

Anyways, I just really wanted to say.. the best part about trying out new things? Making new friends along the way (refer to picture below).

Did this just get weird? I diverge. I suppose now we are off to see the outfit deets!

Although I may try to wear color once in a while, I always gravitate towards clothing in shades of black. I think black is just a shade in the spectrum that is incredibly easy to wear, especially if your style is a little edgier. As much as I love bohemian and more feminine styles, I just never reach for fluttery blouses or basically any outfits that require me to wear something that grazes too close to my skin.

I love this particular outfit because of how comfortable it is to wear. The crop top is loose, the pants are loose, and I just really appreciate outfits that allow me to eat more than half of my hamburger.

We have a silk crop top from Kendall and Kylie with a loose pair of black bottoms I picked up a year or two ago from Paige. I paired this outfit with one of my favorite belts that are similar to the very popular belts designed by B-Low the Belt (scored this in Thailand for $7USD!). The belt is a little bit too big for me so I definitely need to go get it sized so that it fits me properly. But in the meantime, I really enjoy putting it over loose bottoms and letting it just sit a little below my waist. Finally, I have on one of my most worn heels to match from Dolce Vita.

In addition, although I am quite sure most people know already know this - for those of you that do not - when pairing a lot of black pieces together, a good trick is to mix it up with different textures so that you do not look like you're wearing a giant onesie (although I am most definitely pro-onesies).

Fun fact: I once wore a nude fisherman's knit sweater and beige pants to match for a whole day. I went to school in basically nude colored attire, followed up school with a social event with my sisterhood in high school, and did not even realize how closely my outfit made me resemble one of those 90s neon hair colored troll dolls in the nude until I posted up the pictures from the event onto my Facebook. Talk about fashion faux-pas!
